Sustainable Energy For A Sustainable World

The EPA has welcomed Philadelphia as a new member of the Green Power Communities initiative, which includes towns and cities across the US who purchase green power generated by solar, wind, geothermal, biogas, and low-impact hydropower resources. In 2006, Philadelphia joined the EPA’s Green Power Partnership, and pledged that by the year 2015, 20 percent of the electricity consumed by the city will come from renewable sources. The city’s municipal operations have already met this goal, using more than 127 million kilowatt-hours of green power.
